Bura Municipality has officially spread its wings! The board members took the oath of office, marking the full operationalisation of the fourth municipality in Garissa County. This exciting step brings services closer to residents and opens doors for further development.

Governor Nathif Jama, a champion of decentralisation, expressed his jubilation at the ceremony. He sees municipalities like Bura as vital catalysts for attracting investors and donors, boosting urban development, and ultimately empowering local communities.

"The future lies in municipalities," Nathif declared. "They are where progress thrives, resources flow, and devolution truly flourishes."

The newly sworn-in board, led by Chairperson Mohamed Gabow Kharbat, will now tackle crucial tasks like managing waste, fostering sanitation and water access, and overseeing infrastructure development. This translates to tangible improvements for Bura residents in areas like healthcare, education, and agriculture.

Bura's journey to municipality status wasn't an easy one. To qualify, it had to meet specific criteria, a sound development plan, and the ability to sustain its operations financially. Bura crossed all hurdles, proving its potential for a bright future.
